Pre/Post Care Instructions

Your results begin before your treatment and continue after. Follow these guidelines to protect your skin, enhance results, and ensure optimal outcomes.

General Aftercare

48–72 Hours Before

  • Avoid using retinoids, exfoliating acids, benzoyl peroxide, or harsh scrubs.
  • Skip waxing, shaving, or laser treatments on the treatment area.
  • Minimize sun exposure and tanning beds to prevent sensitivity.
  • Stay hydrated and drink plenty of water to support your skin barrier.
  • Inform your esthetician if you are on Accutane, antibiotics, or have recently received injections.

Day of Your Appointment

  • Arrive with a clean face and no makeup, sunscreen, or heavy skincare.
  • Avoid caffeine before your appointment to reduce redness and inflammation.
  • Bring a list of your current skincare products and medications if it is your first visit.
  • Relax and allow your esthetician to customize your treatment for your skin's current condition.
Skin Clearing Treatment

Contraindications

  • Any dermatological disorders in the area (itching, bleeding, dermatitis etc).
  • Pacemakers (ask MD as there is no grounding but to be on the safe side…ask).
  • Pregnancy
  • Lupus
  • Accutane users...even after 6 months post meds. Must be off accutane for 6 - 12 months (must ask MD).
  • Melasma (NOT EVEN CAPILLARIES….THEY WILL DARKEN NOT LIGHTEN).
  • Moles (For moles, book a Cold Plasma treatment).
  • Treating any large flat hyperpigmentation; must several treatments to address irregularity.

Pre-Care Instructions

  • Cease use of all Glycolic or chemical exfoliants.
  • Cease use of all mechanical exfoliants, such as scrubs.
  • Avoid waxing bleaching creams, or electrolysis on the treatment area for 5-7 days prior to your appointment.
  • Avoid sun exposure without a sunscreen of SPF 30 or greater. This treatment cannot be performed on sunburned skin.
  • Avoid tanning beds.
  • You must NOT have recently had laser surgery or used Accutane for 12 months.
  • Discontinue use of any topical retinoids for at least 3-5 days prior to your treatment.
  • If you are prone to cold sores (HSV1 or HSV2), take antiviral medication for 3-7 days prior to the day of treatment.
  • Some medications or supplements may increase sensitivity. Consult your physician.
  • Please avoid any laser or electrolysis treatments (of any kind) at least 7 days prior to your treatment.
  • Avoid blood-thinning agents (such as Aspirin, Fish Oils, Vitamin E) for one week before your appointment.
  • Do not consume alcoholic beverages at least 24 hours prior to treatment.
  • If you recently received Botox or Filler, please wait at least 2 weeks before scheduling your Skin Clearing treatment.
Jet Plasma

Contraindications

  • Pacemaker
  • Pregnancy
  • Hypersensitive
  • Do not use on cancerous lesions
  • Implanted neurostimulator
  • Any electrical implanted device or implanted slow medication release
  • Actively receiving Chemo therapy or radiation. * Jet should not be performed until at least 6 months after last treatment.
  • If ever in doubt request a doctors note for clearance

Pre-Care Instructions

  • Wait two weeks from date of Botox injection to perform your first Jet Plasma session.
  • Can receive Botox or filler 48 hours after Jet Plasma.
  • Please schedule your first Jet session two weeks from the date you received filler injection.
  • Can get filler 24-48 hours after Jet Plasma.
  • Jet will NOT dissolve filler or Botox. We've actually found since new collagen networks are being created, Botox and Filler tends to last longer after Jet.
  • Jet Plasma should not be done until 3-4 months after PDO threads to allow time for internal healing and threads to settle.
  • For optimal outcomes, it is recommended to undergo a series of treatments at least once per week but is safe enough to do 72 hours apart.
Chemical Peels

7-10 DAYS BEFORE YOUR APPOINTMENT

  • Inform your esthetician if you have taken Accutane (oral acne medication) in the past year.
  • Cease application of all topical retinoids, or Vitamin A derivative products.
  • Cease use of all Glycolic or chemical exfoliants.
  • Cease use of all mechanical exfoliants, such as scrubs.
  • Avoid facial waxing.
  • Avoid sun exposure without a sunscreen of SPF 30 or greater.
  • Avoid tanning beds.
  • You must NOT have recently had laser surgery or used Accutane.
  • Candidates who have had a recent chemical peel or other skin procedure, such as collagen injections, should wait two to three weeks before undergoing microdermabrasion.
  • Prospective patients should also refrain from waxing or tanning the skin to be treated for a few weeks prior to microdermabrasion treatment.
  • Wash your face and neck with a non-oily, non-soap based cleanser before each scheduled treatment.
  • Discontinue use of any topical retinoids for at least 3-5 days prior to your treatment.
  • If you are prone to cold sores (HSV1 or HSV2), take antiviral medication for 1 week prior to the day of treatment.
  • Some medications or supplements may increase sensitivity. Consult your physician.
  • Please avoid any laser or electrolysis treatments (of any kind) at least 7 days prior to your treatment.
Needling Facials

Overview

  • Plan to go directly home and minimize any errands following the treatment as you will need to avoid sun exposure.
  • Avoid unprotected sun exposure or sunburn for at least 24 hours prior to your treatment. A microchanneling treatment will not be administered on sunburned skin.
  • No waxing, bleaching creams, or electrolysis to the area being treated for 5-7 days prior.
  • If you're prone to cold sores, take an antiviral agent for 2 days prior to and the day of the treatment.
  • Avoid blood-thinning agents* (Aspirin, Fish Oils, Vitamin E, Blood Thinning Medications, etc.) for one week prior because bruising is a common side effect.
  • *Important Note: Always consult your doctor prior to starting or stopping any supplements or medications.
  • Do not consume alcoholic beverages at least 24 hours prior to treatment (alcohol may thin the blood and increase the risk of bruising).
  • Discontinue use of Retinol 3 days prior to treatment.
  • If you are planning to receive Botox or Filler, make sure that you give yourself at least 2 weeks post-injections before receiving your microchanneling procedure.
Liquid Microneedling/Spicules

Contraindications

  • Not suitable for those with dermatitis, severe rosacea, sunburned skin, or those who have allergies to any of the ingredients.

Important Notes

  • Prior spicule / liquid microneedling and preparation is needed to book this peel!
  • For fitzpatricks 4-6 (melaninated skin), you will need to use a tyrosinase inhibitor in order to receive the Green Sea Spicule Peel. You will need to purchase a tyrosinase inhibitor serum or ampoule to be used prior to treatment.
  • For ALL chemical peels and spicule treatments a tyrosinase inhibitor is extremely important and are required to prevent post inflammatory hyperpigmentation and ensures a safe peel/spicule application.

Overview

  • For at least 48 hours before treatment, do not use heavy moisturizers or hydrating masks. This may effect the amount of peeling.
  • DO NOT EXFOLIATE: Do not manually exfoliate the skin for at least 72 hours prior to treatment.
  • TOPICALS: Stop using all topicals (AHA/BHA, Retinols, etc.) at least 7 days before treatment.
  • For best results, use the Dermathod O2 Tox Peel for 2 weeks prior to treatment and twice a week. This will allow you to become acclimated to the spicule sensation and helps prep the skin.
  • **DISCONTINUE USE OF Dermathod O2 Tox Peel and Peel Pads 3-4 days prior to treatment.**
Dermaplaning

Overview

  • Please ensure your lashes and washed and clean before your lash lift appointment.
  • Please let your skincare specialist know if you are on any medication (topical and/ or oral, have any medical conditions, or are being treated by a physician for any conditions.
  • Let your skincare specialist know if you have been diagnosed with cold sores or Herpes simplex.
  • No shaving, laser treatment, peels, waxing, or aggressive exfoliations one week prior to Dermaplaning treatments.
  • You should wait 7-14 days after receiving botox or dermal fillers to receive Dermaplaning treatments.
  • No shaving, peels, waxing,depilatory creams, retinol, tretinoin, prescribed topicals or aggressive exfoliators one week prior.
  • No sunburns.

The Procedure

  • There is no pain or discomfort during the Dermaplaning procedure. It is best to relax and allow Shawnlin to move and manipulate your head and face. Try to remain still. There is no gum chewing allowed during the treatment and talking will be restricted by your skincare specialist at certain key times during the treatment.
Hydrofacials

Overview

  • Avoid excess sun exposure, including tanning beds for 1 week before treatment, and use SPF 30 or greater daily to ensure coverage against UVB and UBA rays.
  • Do not use any type of exfoliants 2 days before treatment.
  • Refrain from any chemical peels or lasers for 2 weeks prior.
  • Discontinue use of Tretinoin type products (Renova, Tretinoin, Retin A, Retin A Micro, Tri-Luma, Solage, etc.) at least 2 days before treatment.
  • Discontinue use of Hydroquinone 2-3 days before treatment.
  • If you have a history of cold sores, consider beginning prophylactic treatment with Valtrex or similar no later than the day of treatment.
  • Notify the center if you develop a cold sore, acne, open lesions in the area being treated, or experience any type of illness before your treatment.
  • Wait 2 weeks after Botox and filler treatments to have a HydraFacial treatment.
  • Botox and filler may be done on the same day, but only after HydroFacial treatment.
Fire Cupping

Contraindications

  • Pregnancy
  • Open wounds, cuts, or sores on the treatment area
  • Skin conditions such as eczema, psoriasis, or dermatitis in the treatment area
  • Blood clotting disorders or taking blood-thinning medications
  • Fever or active infection
  • Severe heart disease
  • Cancer (consult with your physician first)

Before Your Session

  • Wear comfortable clothing (a gown will be provided).
  • Bring any medical reports and list of medications if you have serious medical conditions.
  • Drink 1-2 cups of water to assist with detoxification.
  • Take a bath or shower to increase blood circulation and relax muscles.
  • Fast from food 3 hours before treatment.
Lash Lift and Tint

Contraindications

  • Do not have the service if you have an eye infection.
  • Currently wearing lash extensions (must be removed first).
  • Recent eye surgery (wait 6 months after Lasik).
  • Allergic reactions to lash perming solutions or tints.
  • Very short or sparse lashes may not be suitable.

Before Your Appointment

  • Remove all eye makeup and contact lenses before your appointment.
  • Avoid curling natural lashes for at least 24 hours prior.
  • Stop using waterproof mascara 48 hours before treatment, as residue can prevent proper lifting.
  • Come with a clean face - no eye makeup.
  • Avoid caffeine, which can cause eyelid fluttering during application.
  • Ensure lashes are in healthy condition and at least 8 weeks from your last lift and tint.
  • Wait a minimum of 6 months if you've had Lasik surgery.
Brow Lamination and Stain

Contraindications

  • Allergic reactions to lamination solutions or brow stains (patch test required).
  • Open wounds, cuts, or sores in the brow area.
  • Skin conditions such as eczema, psoriasis, or dermatitis in the brow area.
  • Recent chemical peels or laser treatments in the brow area (wait 2 weeks).
  • Pregnancy (consult with your physician first).
  • Eye infections or conjunctivitis.

Before Your Appointment

  • Complete a patch test 48-72 hours before your appointment by applying a small amount of product to the inside of your elbow or behind your ear (if this is your first time).
  • Cleanse brows thoroughly with an oil-free foaming cleanser before your appointment.
  • Come with clean, makeup-free brows.
  • Avoid using any brow products (pencils, gels, powders) on the day of your appointment.
  • Inform your esthetician about any allergies, skin sensitivities, or previous reactions to brow treatments.
  • Discuss your desired brow look and shape with your esthetician before beginning.
